Yesterday we posted Virginia Woolf's quote that every woman needs a room of her own to write. Here's a photo of Virginia Woolf's room.

Apparently it was a lot messier when she used it, with papers strewn everywhere.

Jane Austen didn't need as much space to write her novels.

Jane Austen has always amazed me. How anyone could write at a little table in the corner with obligations and demands coming at her. But I think that was her--her books all show that pull/push between freedom and discipline.

Isn't it interesting what our writing spaces say about us as writers. And as people too, I guess.

I love the green laptop too! Mine's sort of sickly maroon- a pink shell over a black Macbook.

Green laptop...
It's a green shell over a white MacBook. My brother-in-law has a cool royal blue one, so I had to make a statement. Besides, maybe the writing is better when it's green! Happy New Year! H.
